Animations for Hong Kong Dance Awards 2018
What’s it? ——
Established in 1999 by the Hong Kong Dance Alliance, the Hong Kong Dance Awards (HKDA) are currently the largest scale dance awards for the city’s dance scene. The annual event acknowledges outstanding achievements in Hong Kong’s dance field and raises public awareness of its diversity and excellence.
What we did —— We intended to give a fresh, energetic look to the design. Nevertheless, we set certain confines for different elements to avoid visual overload. For each set of categories, the colour palette is composed of only three basic colours, accompanied by black and white. We also sought the right balance between being too illustrative and too abstract. We didn’t want to create just upbeat effects; we incorporated emblematic elements into the graphics, e.g. all venue categories come with a framed space to evoke the notion of the stage.
